MEET ALEXIS BLACK


  • 1983  Born in Valparaiso, Ind. six weeks early. Establishes life long pattern of never being late.

  • 1990  Gets her first typewriter. A journalist is born.

  • 1992  Begins neighborhood newspaper detailing what’s in the local daily, plus the trials and tribulations of a fourth grader; charges five cents a copy.

  • 1997  Enters Valparaiso High School – works on the student newspaper, is a student council representative and scuba dives in Florida for Marine Biology program.

  • 2001  Attends Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.

  • 2002  Is accepted into the Ernie Pyle School of Journalism.

  • 2003  Explores love of literature and mythology while studying abroad in Athens, Greece.

  • 2004  Interns at boutique PR agency part-time after classes, discovers the joy of using Bacon’s books to compile media lists.

  • 2005  Engages viewers by writing scripts for student television station; earns Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations and an outside major in English Literature.

  • 2006  Interns for Edelman and Cramer-Krasselt Public Relations; works on various accounts such as Alberto Culver, Barton Brands, Burger King, Pizzeria Uno and Wrigley.

  • 2006  Joins Weber Shandwick and works on U.S. Army events (seven air shows in one summer!) and sponsorships. Hones media relations skills and garners coverage on the front page of the Washington Post, “Live with Regis and Kelly” and numerous other outlets.

  • 2007  Focuses on new challenges by running first marathon in nearly 90 degree weather and joins Current to concentrate on consumer public relations. 

  • 2008  Takes the next step in her career with a promotion to Senior Account Executive at Current. Works for clients including Uncle Ben’s, Seeds of Change, Step2 and Borden milk.

  • 2009  Takes another leap by getting engaged to longtime beau. Puts event planning expertise to good use for her own wedding in June 2010 – and is especially excited by new Current clients Waterford and Wedgwood (wedding registry!) and the island of Saint Lucia (honeymoon!).
