MEET JULIE COOK


  • 1984  Born two weeks late as a first child in a suburb of Boston, MA – subliminally informing parents, and the world, that she'll do it “my way”.

  • 1990  Moves to Plano, TX. The addition of two brothers results in the need to reclaim the spotlight; enrolls in jazz and ballet classes and performs at the Texas State Fair with local dance company.

  • 1992  Moves to the coastal town of Westport, CT – home to Marta Stewart, Paul Newman and Michael Bolton!

  • 1994  Wins D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) essay contest with the prize of a stuffed teddy bear and reading her personal essay aloud at a school-wide assembly. Nonetheless, a passion for the art of communicating is ignited

  • 1996  Secures a spot in the junior ensemble of New York City's Broadway Dance Center, but dreams of becoming a ballerina are squashed when told that making the daily 45 minute train commute from Connecticut is not suitable for a 12-year-old.

  • 1998  Joins a ballet performing tour of Europe as part of the Aberdeen International Youth Festival, spending two months in London and Scotland.

  • 2000  Decides to quit dance to become a high school cheerleader.

  • 2003  A trip back to Texas is made to enroll at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, against her mother's wishes for a quaint, Northern college.

  • 2005  Interns at a boutique PR firm in New York that represents international fashion designers. Realizes that frantically running around the streets of Manhattan for coffee and magazines is not the glamorous life she envisioned, but her career choice is salvaged when allowed to pitch products for the Sundance Film Festival.

  • 2006  A last minute whim to register at the Lorenzo de' Medici Institute of Italian Studies with four best friends from high school leads to an unforgettable semester in Florence and abroad.

  • 2007  Graduating with a BA in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs while interning at private PR firm, The Richards Group, equals a valued lesson in time management and the importance of Starbucks. Internship at Weber Shandwick turns into full-time position with sister agency Current.

  • 2008  Fulfills live long dream to live in New York City by transferring back to the East Coast to help start Current’s next location as an account executive. Survives holiday crowds at Rockefeller Plaza and updates winter wardrobe with wool.
