MEET KATE DIERS

  • 1986  Born during a blizzard on January 20 in the heart of the midwest – Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

  • 1989  Had an early desire to glam’ it up for the camera. Packed lipstick in preschool backpack on picture day. Mom was proud to see the lipstick was on straight and the color matched the outfit perfectly.

  • 1990  Spent mornings before kindergarten playing with family puppy, Starry. Put his ears in pretty ponytails, dressed him in baby clothes and proudly paraded him around the neighborhood in stroller.

  • 1992  Received first pad of Post-its.Planned entire day, minute by minute, on individual Post-it notes and plastered them around her room to ensure she stayed “organized.”

  • 1993  Created, directed, and starred alongside big sister in basement production of As The Worm Squirms, a summertime soap opera about the trials and tribulations of running a Cabbage Patch babysitting business.

  • 1995  Attended “First Act Training Camp” at local theater to perfect singing, acting, and dancing skills. Performed “Seasons of Love” with fellow camp mate in front of large audience and hammed it up during interview with CBS reporter.  After said interview ran on evening news, Kate bragged to friends and classmates about receiving “good press.”

  • 1996  Took first dance class at small studio in Eden Prairie.  Owner and former Rockette, Dyan Ferrell, convinced mom to let Kate become a member of her esteemed competition team.  A love for makeup, tap shoes, and all things sparkley was instantly apparent.

  • 1998  Set Girl's Track & Field Long Jump record as a 7th grader - record remained unbroken well into highschool years.  Ended track career on a high note after realizing her passion for the arts – traded running shoes for jazz boots.

  • 2000  Spent a week in the wild with the boys – carried a backpack twice her bodyweight during camping excursion with dad, uncle, and cousin.  Much to her dismay, dad refused to swap “the experience of a lifetime” trip to Lake Superior’s Isle Royale for a shopping spree in NYC.

  • 2001  - Graced the front page of hometown newspaper twice in one season with solo shots from stellar dance performances.  Spent majority of future dance competitions conveniently placing herself in position for the perfect photo opp – determined to appear again.  A press junkie was born.

  • 2003  Choreographed and danced her way to several Conference, Section, and State Championships as a member of the Eden Prairie High School Dance Team.  Convinced she would one day be a professional cheerleader after performing in halftime show of Minnesota Vikings game.

  • 2004  Traded 'Fargo' accents and subzero temperatures of Minnesota for beaches and sunshine – was off to California to attend Santa Clara University, leaving behind a safety net of friends, family, and all things familiar.  Given extensive dance and gymnastics history, earned a spot on Santa Clara's cheer squad – GO BRONCOS!  Was honored two years in a row with the "Slave Driver" award for hardwork and motivation.

  • 2005  Performed double duty as bridesmaid when both mom and dad remarried respective college sweethearts.  Inherited five new step-siblings in a matter of minutes.

  • 2006  Flounced around Florence, Italy for four months in study abroad program.  Suspected host family connection to the mafia.  Learned a majority of her Italian (read: curse words) by frequenting AC Milano soccer games with host father.  Fell in love with all things Italian.

  • 2008  Realized affinity for event planning during time as an assistant at a real estate firm in Silicon Valley – learned to love shopping for client gifts and stuffing goody bags.  Further refined skills as big sister’s Maid of Honor – singlehandedly organized two bridal showers (on opposite coasts) and a bachelorette weekend in Napa.

  • 2009  Brought on as an intern at Current Lifestyle Marketing.  Among other duties, once spent an afternoon searching the city of San Francisco for 30 toilet plungers before embarking on “Potty Patrol” with fellow CLMers.  After completing an extended internship, graciously accepted offer to join the team as an Assistant Account Executive.
