MEET MEGAN CAIOLA

  • 1984   Born in Bay Shore, New York - home to LL Cool J and Harvey Milk - on December 1, the first snowfall of the year.

  • 1987   Brother Gregory is born and promptly tears all the heads off of Megan’s barbies. Sister Samantha arrives a few years later and quickly teams up with Gregory to present a united front against Megan.

  • 1989   Realizes she is growing at a slower rate than her peers as it becomes more and more obvious in class pictures. Subsequent health challenges include very crooked teeth and a pair of obscenely thick eyeglasses. Learns how to deal with adversity.

  • 1993  Wins the 4th grade essay contest and has to read it aloud at graduation. Makes her mother cry and thinks she might have finally found a talent.

  • 1997   Creates a filmed re-enactment of the show “Singled Out” to demonstrate the themes in The Odyssey for English class. Plants the seed for a similar VH1 spoof called “Behind the Sanctions” she later executes to debate embargos on Iraq in her International Political Economy class at college.

  • 1998   Only member left standing in her Girl Scout troop and goes on to earn the prestigious Gold Award, making her a proud Girl Scout for life – although she only begins to share this upon hitting adulthood.

  • 1999   Accidentally becomes editor of the high school newspaper, and somehow manages to balance running it while being student council treasurer and devoting 20 hours per week to her love for dance.

  • 2001   Undergoes corrective jaw surgery and spends the first three months of senior year with her mouth wired shut. Left with a head full of metal screws that occasionally cause problems at airport security, and an impressive ability to listen.

  • 2001   Discovers a love of language and foreign cultures. The events of September 11 strongly influence her choice to pursue studies in International Relations.

  • 2002   Gets braces removed after seven years. Is also accepted into the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Still unsure as to which event was more life-changing.

  • 2003   Attends Georgetown and is elected captain of the Hoya Dance Team. Uses mildly racy flyers to elevate awareness of the team on campus and as a result, executes one of the most successful fundraising events ever among student groups, discovering an interest in communications.

  • 2004   Interns in the Press and Communication office at the Embassy of France. Works as lead writer of a bi-weekly newsletter distributed internationally and fields inquiries from French and American journalists. Highly enjoys the on-site bakery and 3 pm café breaks.

  • 2005   Spends a year in Strasbourg, France to study European politics where the action takes place, and to drink wine. Meets future fiancé and they somehow manage to communicate in a jumbled mix of French, English and occasionally German.

  • 2006   Graduates from Georgetown with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service and plans to change the world. Decides to flee to Paris with a suitcase and her summer savings. Parents take six months to pick their jaws up off the floor.

  • 2007   Becomes a junior brand manager for AXA Investment Managers, developing corporate communications programs for offices in over 20 countries. Language fatigue is an understatement.

  • 2008   Moves back to the United States to pursue PR and decides San Francisco is the only logical choice given her love of wine. Jumps at the opportunity to join the dynamic team at Current to work for clients including Hidden Valley Ranch, Pine-Sol, FRS Healthy Energy and Kim Crawford Wines.

  • 2009   Puts her event planning expertise to what may be the greatest test to date: planning her own bi-cultural, bilingual wedding. Continues to explore San Francisco while keeping busy as secretary for the local Georgetown Alumni club.
