MEET SARA JOSEPH
- 1974 Born in Livingston, New Jersey on April 25 – two weeks early on the morning of her mom’s last day of work. Mom drove herself to the hospital and told dad to meet her there!
- 1977 Welcomes her new best friend home, brother Michael. After years of him serving as slave and errand boy, still serves as her best friend.
- 1982 Begins PR career without knowing it by giving her neighbors a pitch to buy Girl Scout cookies. Media trains her dad and sends him to work to sell on her behalf. Receives cool badge to add to her sash for selling the most boxes in her troop.
- 1984 Falls in love with live music after being taken to her first concerts, The Jackson Five’s Victory Tour and Madonna’s Like a Virgin Tour.
- 1991 Bring it on…literally! Appointed captain of her high school’s Varsity Cheerleading Team and named All American by the National Cheerleading Association of America…training for her PR career continued while cheering for the James Caldwell Chiefs; she just didn’t know it yet.
- 1994 Nabs an internship at CBS during the summer before her junior year at The University of Maryland, College Park. Falls in love with TV journalism and Mike Wallace.
- 1996 Graduates college with a major in journalism and plans to become Mike Wallace’s producer one day. Is thrilled to be hired by start-up cable network, MSNBC!
- 1998 After two years of covering live and breaking news – from the crash of TWA Flight 800 to the death of Princess Diana – realizes the chaotic life that journalists lead. Tired after working the morning news early hour shift for a year, switches things up to work on the flip side – lands a job as an associate in the media practice of Burson-Marsteller.
- 1999 Spreads her PR wings further to learn the ins and outs of travel PR by becoming a senior account executive at BSMG, now Weber Shandwick, where she spends the next nine years learning and then leading accounts including Singapore Airlines, Celebrity Cruises, Omni Hotels, Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority, InterContinental Hotels Group and more.
- 2009 Travels to IPG sister agency, Current, as a vice president after landing its first travel account, Saint Lucia Tourist Board.
