MEET BRANDON BRIGGS

  • 1983  Born in Grand Rapids, MI on July 19. Immediately swaddled in a University of Michigan blanket by dad. GO BLUE!

  • 1987  Started relentless string of getting stitches every other year for the next eight years. First occurrence came from running in the house with wet shoes and allowing my chin to break my fall.

  • 1989  Installment #2 of stitches to the chin after older brother pushed me off of a railing.

  • 1990  Welcome first family pet, a beagle-boxer cleverly named Narley Pete. The inspiration came from a favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles catch phrase, “narley,” and a favorite uncle, Uncle Pete.

  • 1991  Installment #3. Apparently running your mouth on the school bus to the class bully who has a rock in his backpack isn’t the best way to avoid stitches on the top of your head. Who knew?

  • 1993  Final stitches episode. Without getting too graphic, all I will say is dog bite…lip…plastic surgery. Apparently Narley Pete didn’t enjoy having his face blown on repeatedly from a close distance.

  • 1994  Started playing every sport known to a 10-year-old boy…football, soccer, basketball, baseball. Looking up to Barry Sanders and Michael Jordan, started training to make it to the NBA and the NFL; still working on it.

  • 1995  After earlier split up, both parents remarry. Now surrounded and supported by four amazing parents and families.

  • 1998  Finally become a big brother – to a sister no less! Can’t wait until she starts dating; I wouldn’t want to be the young man who has to report to me and my older brother.

  • 2002  Graduate high school and head to NCAA Division II football powerhouse, Grand Valley State University, to study public relations and advertising. Even though I did not follow in my father’s and brother’s footsteps to the University of Michigan, I still bleed blue!

  • 2004  Give up hope on making it to the NBA or NFL and settle for both the GVSU Flag Football and Indoor Soccer intramural championships. Begin playing guitar after being inspired by the song “Hero” by Enrique Iglesias.

  • 2005  After singing in high school choirs and an a cappella group throughout college, signed first record deal with an independent label called Fifty-Fifty Records.

  • 2006   Graduate from college. After playing guitar in any bar that would let me in Michigan, land an internship position with Weber Shandwick in Chicago.

  • 2007  Move to Chicago in early January not knowing a soul. Complete an extended internship with Weber Shandwick. Receive offer for my first official job with Current as an Assistant Account Executive.

  • 2008  Take the next career step with promotion to Account Executive. Continue playing music in the Windy City and taking full advantage of everything Chicago offers.

  • 2009  Take up new hobby of long-distance running and complete a 25K and three half-marathons along the way. Set sights on completing first full marathon in October 2009 – fingers crossed.
