MEET JENNIFER SEYLER


  • 1978  It was no surprise to her doctors when Jennifer was born on May 3 in the Chicago suburbs – as they accurately predicted her date of birth. 

  • 1979  Survives two incidences/adventures – a 2-foot drop from her parent’s bed and the gentle drop from her older sister’s lap.

  • 1980  Welcomes baby brother, Peter, and assumes her position as the family peace maker.

  • 1982  Starts her 14 year span of piano lessons. Money not well spent since she still cannot play the piano.

  • 1983  Starts kindergarten and enjoys her favorite time of the day – napping.

  • 1984  Enters first grade and is repulsed when she receives her first kiss from a boy.

  • 1986  Transfers from the public school system to a private school and constantly gets in trouble for wearing earrings too long, hair too short and shorts too short.

  • 1987  Begs parents to keep the puppy they found in the street and wins.

  • 1989  Spends afternoons choreographing dances to teach in upcoming gym classes.

  • 1990  Finally gets the Barbie doll mansion she wanted. Uses it as an “afternoon special” set.

  • 1992  Switches back to public school and reunites with friends she left in second grade. 

  • 1993  Joins high school track team even though she has never run a day in her life.

  • 1994  Goes to Disney Land to march in a parade with high school marching band. Yes, she is a band geek.

  • 1995  Picks up pole vaulting as another track event and decides to expand her running grounds by way of the cross country team.

  • 1996  Graduates high school and heads off to college in Rock Island, Illinois as a business major. She joins the college track team to continue torturing herself.

  • 1998  Switches majors to biology/pre-med because she wants to be a doctor.

  • 1999  Starts work in the college weight room…and meets fellow athlete and future husband, Eric. 

  • 2000  Decides not to be a doctor and applies to the top nutrition master programs.

  • 2001  Graduates college and moves to Champaign, IL to start grad school.

  • 2002  Receives award and cash prize for academic performance, and is honored with a request to speak at an Experimental Biology conference. Runs the Chicago marathon.

  • 2004  Graduates from grad school and moves to Chicago for a fun and exciting opportunity with Bally Total Fitness. During her tenure, launches two new nutrition focused programs and sets the bar for Bally services.

  • 2006  Follows ambition to PR agency Burson-Marsteller and wins two awards for campaign development and results.

  • 2007  Gets married in Mexico and starts her new life with a new job at Current.

  • 2008  Becomes more involved in the community as she takes on roles such as the Illinois Dietetic Association Bulletin Co-Chair and the Chicago Interpublic Women’s Leadership Network Membership Co-Chair.

  • 2009  Named the recipient of the 2009 Illinois Emerging Dietetic Leader Award. To continue her community involvement, she becomes the Chicago Nutrition Association President.
